On our first day in Egypt, we went the pyramids and Sphinx, which were amazing! We drove in the night before and could see the pyramids looming over the city. It was completely surreal- they are so much bigger than I imagined!
We apparently were there on the only day in history that it was rainy and cold in Egypt, so we all look kind of windswept in these pictures.
This was the beginning of the Very Bad Idea: a bet with Joe that I could go longer than him without going to the bathroom. Um, I can't really explain how this bet came about, but suffice it to say that I won. Sort of. If you can call avoiding the bathroom for 16 hours winning. But I did get a dollar and a backscratch, so all in all, it was a pretty good day.
The requisite "kissing the Sphinx" picture, which was being simultaneously taken by 40 Japanese tourists.

Wow, that bathroom thing sounds like a very bad and painful idea! I love your posts today- looks like you had an amazing fieldtrip. We miss you!
