Petra was where the Nabateans lived. They were a group that just kind of chilled in the middle of all the other civilizations and their society was entirely based on trade. Because of this, Petra is full of different influences from Rome, Greece, Egypt and lots of other places. The Treasury is the place shown on "The Last Crusade" and it's amazing because it's just cut right out of the stone. The monastery takes a while to get to and involves quite a hike. It is so random because you're hiking away from everything for a while and all of a sudden you turn the corner, and there is a giant stone monastery. It's pretty amazing.
The High Place is where the Nabateans and people passing through would go to make sacrifices. The view from the top is incredible. It takes a while to get there, climbing up almost a thousand steps to reach the top. A few of us sort of took a little too long exploring the Monastery, so they told us we didn't have time to get up to the High Place, and not wanting to miss out on anything, we decided to take donkeys.

In front of the Treasury.
I chose...wisely.
This rock was falling down on the path, but luckily I caught it.
I am sometimes randomly inspired to do yoga. Kyle is usually the inspiration (he posed like this right before me, and I'm a copycat. Plus, I taught him tree pose in the first place, so I figured it was only right.)
Kimberly, me and Kristi.
Kyle and I in front of the Monastery. I think he is the funniest kid I've ever met.
Me in front of the Monastery.
Dave riding a camel up to the High Place.
I galloped this horse out of Petra and felt like Indiana. It was so amazing!
This was a random donkey that we found in a cave.
My monkey ways come out again.

WOW! How beautiful. I love, love, love seeing all these cool places you are going. I feel sad for that random donkey you found- did you give him a snack?
