Bullfights and Babies

Yesterday was an awesome day!
I did a morning shift at Special Kids, and then all of us went to a bullfight. As it turns out, I don't really understand this cultural tradition. I was expecting something like the Preston rodeo, except with a more dapper, showy version of Randi Munns and more sparkly outfits.
I was right about the sparkly outfits.
But I forgot about the part where they spear the bulls repeatedly until they can no longer stand, let alone fight. And also the part where they stab the bull in the head and stir its brain around until it is definitely dead. Here's the bullfighting process:

After the fight, Angel bought us all the most delicious ice cream I've ever eaten, and then I went to Casas for an afternoon shift. There, we discovered a new baby! His name is David and someone found him in the dumpster behind the government hospital downtown, where he stayed for about a month. He is very, very cute and tiny compared to the other babies. Last night, the cops brought in another baby because her mom kept getting into street fights and she was all banged up. Her mom might come in to get her, so we don't know if we'll get to keep her.
Last night, we went to the Magic Bean for dinner as per John and Laura's suggestion and it was SO GOOD! The sandwich I had was life-altering.
Lamely, I'm really sick today. But Rex is a doctor, so he's got me all hooked up with antibiotics and such. I'm not a large fan of them, but they do the trick. Hopefully.

Wow, I am 30 years old and had no idea that they killed the Bull at the end of a bull fight. Maybe I was just blocking it out because it is so awful. Guess there is no PETA-Ecuador!

Bullfights are really sick. I could never watch one myself. You were brave.

Oh, Madi, I wish I could have warned you. Of course, I also have a very hard time watching the steer events at the Preston Rodeo. Hard to believe the cruelty people are capable of.

Any new info on the little boy you want to bring home?

Sorry about the bull fight! I am not sure I could go to one, but Tom went to one in Spain and the whole tradition was explained to him by the Spaniards. I can't remember all the deeper meaning, but there is a deeper meaning. SOmething to do with sacrifice and chivalry. The bulls are really honored. I know it's weird and a little cruel. So the baby was in the dumpster for a month? HOw did it survive. Poor kid. That is so sad.
