The Grand Montenegro Tour

And so we sailed on. And on Wednesday (August 17), we found ourselves in Kotor, Montenegro. Our plan was to go on a bike tour of the Montenegrin countryside, organized by RC (Royal Caribbean, not Reid Carlson). But much to our chagrin, the bike tour was canceled, so we opted instead for The Grand Montenegro Tour, which took us in a bus up into the mountains to snack at a village cafe, to a museum in the first king's palace, and to Budva, a little resort town on the coast, where we dined on spiced meats and poked around the Old City a bit. When the tour ended, the bus took us back to Kotor and we sprinted to enter the city walls of Kotor, which turned out to be an amazing-looking town. We got to see about 7 minutes worth before we had to race back to the dock for the last tender. We learned that sometimes it might be better not to take The Grand Montenegro Tour, and just to experience a place on your own. Still, I was glad we got to see the countryside and Budva (not so glad we got to see the king's palace, which, although I love history, was not that cool at all). And mostly I was glad that David and I got to see such beautiful pieces of the world that I never thought I'd have the chance to see.

Waiting to tender to shore. This is the coast of Kotor from the ship.

The city of Kotor (and The Splendour of the Seas ;) from high above.

We stopped in a little village to do a bit of shopping and eating a snack of smoked ham and cheese.

Overlooking the coast some more.

The shore of Budva (where Brangelina vacation, or so I hear.)

The Old City of Budva.

David fell for this shop in Budva

And we came home to a little Juan-made friend :).
