I am in love...

...with sushi.

Grace and I recently discovered a very swank sushi bar near our casa. One night when we were particularly starving (and particularly sick of eating scrambled eggs 3 meals a day), we decided to investigate. We suspected that due to the swankicity, the sheer poshness of the place, it would be out of our budgets. We decided, however, that a night with sushi would be utterly worth it.

Oh my was it. And (oh lovely Ecuador) it was cheap. I had the Noe Rollo Especial, which was some combination of salmon, caviar and goodness with a crispy, cheesy crustiness surrounding. I have never been so happy to eat anything in my life. It was so, so, so amazingly delicious that we went back tonight. This time I got the FlambeƩ Rollo, which they lit on fire at our table.

I must admit, I am not a big fan of food. Most of it seems like quite a bother to me and there aren't a lot of things that I really care about eating. In fact, if I let myself think about eating while I'm doing it, I get so grossed out that I lose my appetite. I don't know why. It's not like this serves to keep me particularly skinny or anything. Mostly it just makes me dread going out to eat.

There are a few foods, however, that thrill and delight. Grapefruit, pizza sauce and popcorn mostly. Now I can officially add sushi to that list. I think it is perhaps my favorite food of all time. I also think I will have to move to Japan sometime in the near future.

Amen, sister! Quincy made some veggie sushi at Mom's house a few years ago. I tried some and it was love at first bite!! Besides discovering a new food to love, it was also an awesome, memorable teaching moment for the kids. They still remember how "gross" it looked, so now when they are getting up the courage to try something new, one of them will say, "Remember Mom and the sushi?" Like, if I could eat THAT and survive, they just might be okay!

There's a great sushi place in Bellingham I've been dying to try, maybe I'll have to wait until you're here!

Grapefruit, popcorn and pizza sauce....hmmm. Can't say those are my three favorites, but hey, it's good we are all different!
